- Recessions Trigger Promotions - Do something different to drive immediate, short term sales.
- If you want to connect with your customers, pick up the phone. Talking to one another is more valuable than ever during social distancing.
- History shows brands have gained traction during challenging economic times.
- Spending remains constant during a crisis. In fact, although consumer confidence is down, spending is up 1.8% during social distancing.
- You have to change up your message. Make sure your value proposition is still relevant.
- Consider your customer base, is there an opportunity to expand It during this time? Look for new segments to serve.
- Local media is where people go during times of crisis and overall media consumption is up 60% during times of crisis, according to Nielsen.
- 86% of businesses believe that they are being negatively affected by COVID-19; you are not alone.
- If you're a local restaurant, use short term promotional marketing to gain a list for e-mail marketing so you can serve them later.
- If you have been forced to close, consider taking people inside your business and behind the scenes using video.

We know this is a challenging time for many businesses. There is a plethora of resources available - some free, and some you'll pay a pretty penny for. Whatever you do with your marketing efforts during this time, make sure it still feels human, resonates with your passion/mission statement, and is right for your business.
